Initiative 6. Impact of Technology Outcomes

Led by CELEST Board member Heather Ames

CELEST ensures an expansion of transfer of the technologies and knowledge developed within CELEST through a relatively new organization called the CELEST Catalyst. The Catalyst facilitates many technology transfer activities including, but not limited to, building industrial partnerships, marketing CELEST models and technologies on the internet, promoting internships for students in partner companies, and creating computing infrastructure for technology development.

As scientific research progresses, CELEST will make technological advances at different levels of technology readiness. Thus, we will work to develop ways to leverage these impacts at the appropriate level. For example, commercialization strategies such as licensing and developing industrial partnerships will be considered for innovations at a higher technology readiness level.

Securing intellectual property rights (e.g. patents, software licenses) for CELEST technologies, creating industrial partnerships aimed at further developing and commercializing CELEST technologies, and promoting our technological advances on the internet and through other media will be a focus in the remaining years of the CELEST renewal project period.
