Boston-Area Machine-Brain Interface

BAMBI

The Boston-Area Machine-Brain Interface (BAMBI) is a new CELEST initiative in its technology development and outreach program. Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) is truly a multidisciplinary endeavor. We are thrilled to have gathered dozens of leading neuroscientists, engineers, experimentalists, and computational modelers in Boston to discuss emerging technologies that are pertinent to the development of BMI applications.

In a recent BAMBI brainstorming session, our group identified ways to gather resources and expertise to help each other in making rapid advancements in this field. In the upcoming monthly meetings, we will discuss the state-of-the-art approaches in many topics relevant to BMI developments, e.g., artifacts rejection techniques, time-frequency analysis approaches, addressing real-time instrumentation issues, and sharing computer resources that would enable efficient data classification of brain signals. We will also provide a venue for our trainees to discuss other non-technical topics relevant to the development of BMI technologies, such as aspects of commercialization and bioethics.

Please check this website for our monthly discussion / tutorial schedule. We will be organizing a one-day BAMBI workshop in Spring 2011 and inviting leading experts in this field to discuss emerging BMI technologies. Any suggestions for mini-symposium topics and speakers outside of the BAMBI network are welcome.
